Reading FC have a dilemma on their hands in the striking department, and whoever is announced as the new manager will have a big job to fill the gaping hole in the front of the Reading attack.

Both Matej Vydra and Orlando Sa tried and failed to live up to their big price tags upon arriving, and Simon Cox and Hal Robson-Kanu were released by the club alongside Anton Ferdinand.

That leaves the club with just Latvian forward Deniss Rakels, who has been promising without setting the world alight since arriving from Polish minnows Cracovia, and Yann Kermorgant, who at 34 years of age is getting on a bit, as well as Dominic Samuel, who is returning from a loan spell at Gillingham.

With the most obvious system pointing to a 4-3-3 with two inverted wingers and a lone striker, some heavy recruitment will have to go on in the summer.

Here in the opinion of FLW's Harry Smith is a DREAM front three for Reading next season that would help them get promoted.....

Deniss Rakels

The Latvian forward was on fire at Cracovia before he joined the Royals in January, and goals against QPR, Leeds and a last minute winner against Charlton have made him an instant hit with the Reading fans.

Quick, direct and with an eye for goal, Rakels can play on the wing or up front in the 4-3-3 formation, and looks like a heavy threat, if the new manager deploys him correctly, and plays to his strengths.

Glenn Murray

Rumours sparked that Murray, who was bought by Bournemouth in the summer, could be heading back to the Madejski Stadium on a free transfer this summer.

Whilst his age is seen as a problem, he is a threat up top with experience at the level, and is someone who is guaranteed to score goals if you give him service, as the Royals learned when they signed him on loan last season.

Kemar Roofe

Whilst the fact that he plays for rivals Oxford United might come of annoyance to some fans, most of the Reading faithful would be delighted if the Royals were to secure the signing of the talented winger.

After he was voted as the League Two Player of the Season, interest in Roofe has been high, with nearly every top-half Championship side being linked with the winger at some point.

Reading will have to pay big to land him, but it is a risk worth taking.
