Sky Bet Championship outfit Nottingham Forest were among the lowest scorers in the whole division during the 2015/16 campaign, and a change in fortunes will be required next season.

The Reds will be bolstered by the return to fitness of Britt Assombalonga, whilst it is also likely that the new manager – whoever it might be – will want to bring another striker in too.

Forest need  a season of relative success to give their fans something to cheer after several years of mediocre football, and in order to achieve this they will need to start hitting the back of the net more frequently.

The club are still actively seeking a new manager with Oscar Garcia and Neil Warnock both thought to be in the running for the vacancy.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke took at look at a dream forward three that Forest could look to build for next season, in order to get them back among the goals on a regular basis......

AMR – Adam Hammill

The Barnsley forward is out of contract at Oakwell during the summer, and it is highly unlikely he will stay with the South Yorkshire-based club, given his impressive form which guided the Tykes to promotion to the Sky Bet Championship.

The former Liverpool trainee is exactly the sort of winger that Forest need at present and the fact that he could be signed on a free transfer makes his signing even more appealing.

Hammill isn’t a stereotypical winger and although he can beat defenders at freewill, he also contributes goals for the team, making him a solid addition to any Sky Bet Championship club.

AML – Oliver Burke

If there is one thing that fans of Nottingham Forest love to see it is a talented youngster progress through the youth ranks and play first-team football for the club.

Burke fits that bill and despite Premier League interest in the 19-year-old, it is fully expected that the Scotland international will still be plying his trade at the City Ground next season.

The youngster made 20 appearances for the Reds last season and netted twice in his maiden season playing in the first-team.

Burke caught the eye with a series of top quality performances and his pace makes his addition to the Forest starting eleven a must from next season.

ST – Britt Assombalonga

The Forest talisman was sorely missed by the Reds during his 14-month injury lay-off, and the club will be absolutely delighted to get him back on the pitch for regular games.

The ex-Peterborough United man netted his first goal since returning from the injury during Forest’s 2-1 win over MK Dons on the final day of the 2015/16 campaign, with the Reds’ faithful keen to ensure he can score goals consistently next season.

The striker thrives on balls being put into the box and with Burke and Hammill on either flank he would get plenty of chances to score in every single Championship encounter.
