It will be a summer of recuperation for the Addicks as they prepare for life in League One.

Charlton's four year stay in the Championship came to an end after they finished 22nd in the 2015/16 season. Manager Jose Riga resigned at the end of the season and the club have since opted to appoint Russell Slade.

The new manager will have plenty on his plate . Not only must he prepare for a promotion pushing campaign, he will also have to overhaul the squad and attempt to keep hold of important players.

Once all this is out of the way, the manager can spend some time tinkering with the team. This is where there are a lot of opportunities and possibilities.

There is a lot of speculation as to how a team will line-up, for England will Vardy and Kane start? For Charlton will Lookman be the figurehead forward next season? Who will the new manager sign for the Addicks?

Here is the dream front three for Charlton Athletic next season in the opinion of FLW writer Rafie Thompson...

LW - Gwion Edwards

Edwards managed two goals in 6 games for Crawley last season.

The Crawley Town winger is by far their most exciting player and at the age of 23 he still has a large amount of his career ahead.

The winger is skillful and fearless and is the perfect example of a tricky winger. He is definitely a viable signing for Charlton and would likely be very willing to join the side.

MK Dons were also reported to be looking at the winger and should Athletic get there first he would have plenty of playing time on the wings.

ST - Ademola Lookman

Despite overwhelming reports that the 2015/16 Championship Apprentice of the year is going to leave this summer for a big Premier League side - Lookman would do well to stay for his development.

The 18 year-old striker is a huge prospect and clubs such as Liverpool have been looking into signing him. Should Lookman stay however, he would be guaranteed plenty of minutes and an opportunity to become a real force in front of goal.

It would be a test of how well Lookman can perform in a full season in a top half team.

RW - Jay Tabb

The 32 year old winger has been released by Ipswich Town and is a free-agent.

He made 85 appearances for Ipswich and was especially effective in the 2014/15 season where the Tractor boys made the play-offs.

Tabb has the experience and versatility to play in a number of positions and alongside Lookman and Edwards it would provide an exciting front three for a League One side.

Tabb was unlucky not to get playing time under Mick McCarthy last season and the now released player will be looking for a new club where he can show what he has got.
