All in all Wolves had a very disappointing season with them failing to build on the successes of last season.

Wolves played a brand of free flowing football under Jackett with the front three of Nouha Dicko, Bakary Sako and Benik Afobe tearing Championship defences to pieces. The midfield was productive with David Edwards providing impetus whilst Kevin McDonald and Conor Coady protected the defence.

Also the defence was shaky but solid enough for them to mount a challenge with Batth and Stearman impressive at the back, while Golborne and Iorfa impressed at wing back.

Eventually though Bakary Sako refused to sign a new deal and left on a free to Premier League Crystal Palace whilst Nouha Dicko has been kept out for most of the season with a bad injury. They were able to cling on to Afobe for half the season but the vultures came circling and he was sold to Bournemouth. This money was not re-invested in the team and the attacking options suffered with Le Fondre and Mason the main threats.

The defence was weakened by the sale of Stearman to Fulham and it has been a mess all season. Wolves have no out and out goalscorer with Afobe their top scorer despite being sold in the middle of the season.

Goals from David Edwards and James Henry in the midfield have kept them away from trouble and relieved some of the pressure on Kenny Jackett.

But with a bottom half finish, Le Fondre going back to Cardiff and the defence still a shambles the team needs a lot of new faces if they are to challenge next season. Dicko should be back but he will need help and with only Mason they need more depth in the striking department.

Here in the opinion of FLW writer Michael Hasan, is a the dream front three for Wolves next season...

Chuba Akpom

A possible loan deal for Chuba Akpom would be a good move from Wolves.

The young Arsenal striker is showing a lot of promise and has spent this season on loan to Championship Hull so he is picking up experience. The 20 year old has had numerous spells in League One but made over 30 appearances for Hull in the Championship this season bagging 5 goals and he is only getting better.

He is prominent for England at every youth level and Wenger is keen to get him first team football before integrating him into the first team at the Emirates. With a good strike partner and wingers to support his pace and movement he can score regularly at this level as Akpom tries to make Arsenal take notice.

Idrissa Sylla

Not a lot is known in this country about the young striker from Guinea currently plying his trade in Belgium.

The 25 year old had a lot of success at Zulte-Waregem before moving to Anderlecht and has 6 goals in 14 games. He is an established international for Guinea with a couple of goals in 14 appearances.

Well over 6 feet tall he is a big threat in the air and is very physical and will give many problems to Championship defences.

Zach Clough

The 21 year old Bolton striker was one of the few shining lights in a miserable season for Bolton which has seen them torn apart by financial strife and eventually relegated to League One.

Despite the club being sold to Dean Holdsworth and his consortium, there is a big rebuild job at Bolton and they could be in League One for years to come.

Clough isn't expected to stay and has been linked with a move to the Championship, with the club in dire need of funds. His 7 goals saw him top score for Bolton and a move to Wolves will suit all parties with Wolves needing some young blood up front.

Clough is a big improvement due to his ability and the fact he has a lot of time to improve.
