Rotherham had a topsy turvy season which saw them go from a seemingly doomed relegation spot to comfortable safety. At the start of the season expectations were understandably low with a shoestring budget to work with and it showed at first with Rotherham cut adrift in the bottom 3 leading to the sacking of Steve Evans.

Rotherham didn't rest on their laurels though, and brought in former Leeds manager Neil Redfearn where, despite initial promise, their form dipped again and when Redfearn left they were 22nd and in big trouble.

The chairman brought in Championship specialist Neil Warnock who led the side on a marvellous run of form as they picked up 10 points in March including fantastic wins over Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday and came from 3-0 down against Derby to claim a point.

Surprisingly at the end of the season Warnock decided not to stay on meaning Rotherham had the very difficult task of replacing him, with the Millers opting for Alan Stubbs.

Stubbs failed to lead Hibernian to promotion from the Scottish Championship losing out in the playoffs to Falkirk but overall fans were happy as the side picked up some long awaited silverware when they defeated Rangers 3-2 in the Scottish Cup Final.

If he is to keep Rotherham up he'll have to sign players wisely and here are 3 strikers that Rotherham fans will be happy to see leading the line next season...

Jason Cummings

Cummings is the most talked about prospect in Scotland and has been linked with a move to England for a while.

At only 20 years old he has scored 18 goals this season for Hibernian and did the same the previous season. Cummings is known for his pace and excellent finishing and has had his best season to date but the disappointment of missing out on promotion may turn him to moving away especially with him being on the verge of a Scotland call up.

A lot of English sides are after him but with his old manager now at Rotherham, he may be more comfortable and confident playing under him in the Championship than anywhere else.

Tom Bradshaw

The young Welsh striker has made quite the impression at Walsall and is one of the top scorers in League 1 this season.

He has played for the Welsh U21 side and was in the provisional squad for the Euros until withdrawing with a calf injury. His goals along with the excellent work of  Romaine Sawyers and Sam Mantom nearly led them to the Championship, but after narrowly missing out on automatic promotion they were well beaten by Barnsley in the playoffs.

But there is plenty of interest in Bradshaw with the 23 year old expected to make the step up a tier sooner rather than later.

Matty Taylor

The Bristol Rovers striker has caught the eye this season being the top scorer in the Football League with 27 goals.

His goals helped Rovers secure consecutive promotions, snatching automatic promotion to League One from Accrington Stanley on the final day of the season.

The 26 year old is highly sought after being nominated or League 2 Player of the Year and with Stubbs promising marquee signings Taylor would be a good start. Taylor is mainly known for his pace and excellent first touch, running defences ragged and finding the spaces to run into.
