Chris Wilder is quietly going about his business at Sheffield United so far since taking over from Nigel Adkins.

He has added a couple of names to his squad already while getting rid of some of the so called dead wood, and if he can continue to add a few more names over the summer, then Blades fans can enter the season with some optimism.

Key to his transfer strategy will be getting some defenders in though, as the Blades currently look extremely short on numbers in the defensive positions.

Last year they conceded too many goals, especially from set pieces, and surely this is an area Wilder will be looking to address as we enter the summer months.

Taking this into account, FLW writer Lee Connor gives his opinion on the DREAM defence for Sheffield United next season....

LB - Chris Hussey

It would be daft not to include the new signing from Bury and Chris Wilder was delighted to get the signing over the line last month.

Hussey will offer a threat going forward and has a wonderful left foot which Wilder will no doubt be looking to utilise on set pieces as well.

Bob Harris was often caught out when playing left back for the Blades over the last few seasons, and they will be hoping Hussey can offer something of an improvement now he has signed.

CB - Gordon Greer

The experience central defender has been released by Brighton and will probably be looking for a move elsewhere, even at the grand age of 35.

He would be perfect though for Sheffield United, with all his experience and guile, he could be a real steal if the Blades managed to snap him up.

Even on a short term deal over a year or so, Greer could offer the young Blades squad plenty, and Wilder should seriously consider adding him to his playing staff.

CB - Kyle McFadzean

The MK Dons central defender has been linked with a move back to his hometown club across numerous social media platforms, and he might well get the move should Wilder be able to tempt him.

McFadzean began his career with the Blades but failed to settle and get a spot in the team, but has since gone on to make a decent career for himself.

He would be an excellent signing who is proven at League One level too, so if Wilder could manage to get him and pair him with Greer, it would bode for an excellent central defensive pairing.

RB - John Brayford

Some fans were left unconvinced by Brayford last season, but it is very easy to forget that he was coming off the back of an extremely serious injury.

Brayford still has class in abundance, and is easily one of the best players in the division, never mind just the Blades squad.

United and Wilder will need Brayford firing on all cylinders next season. Pre-season will be vital for the former Derby defender if he is to do this, and he will be hoping to overcome his injury problems.
