The 2015/16 season provided little cheer for Blackburn fans as they once again finished their league campaign on an underwhelming note finishing in 15th place as hopes of a return to the Premier League were once again vanquished.
Owen Coyle is the man tasked with reviving the club’s fortunes, however, there are a number of issues that await Coyle as he looks to build a side capable of challenging for promotion from the Championship this season.
One of those issues is the fact that his defence could become obliterated this summer. Goalkeeper Simon Eastwood, full back Tommy Spurr, and centre back Matthew Kilgallon are all available to talk to other clubs come the expiration of their contracts on 30th June.
The big question now will be who will Coyle look to sign to re-build a defence that is on the brink of total annihilation?
Here, Football League World writer Steve Day looks at the possible signings Coyle could make to improve his defensive line in order to make them a side that can push for promotion to the top flight next season.
