Derby County will be looking to make it three matches unbeaten in the Championship, when they return to action on Tuesday evening.

The Rams earned a point in their most recent match against local rivals Nottingham Forest, with Colin Kazim-Richards' fine strike from distance seeing Wayne Rooney's side make it two matches unbeaten from their last two.

Derby are currently sat 18th in the second-tier standings, and will be eager to pick up three points in their next match, which comes against Cardiff City.

It's certainly going to be a tough test for the Rams, with Mick McCarthy's side making a strong push for a top-six finish after an impressive run of results since the 62-year-old was appointed as Neil Harris' successor.

We take a look at some of the dilemmas that Wayne Rooney will be facing at Derby ahead of this tricky test against Cardiff City tonight.

Louie Sibley set for a start?

Sibley caught the eye with a number of impressive showings towards the end of the 2019/20 season, but has found regular starts hard to come by this season.

The 19-year-old has made five starts in his 19 league appearances for Derby this season, but could be pushing for a start in this one.

The youngster stepped off the substitutes bench in their draw against Nottingham Forest, and you would imagine that he'll be pushing for a start against a Luton Town team that could be troubled by his pace and direct style of play when attacking.

A more attack-minded formation?

Derby have often lined up with one attacker leading the line, with Colin Kazim-Richards (pictured) being trusted to operate in that role.

But Luton Town have leaked goals at times this season, and that could tempt Rooney to line up with two strikers in attack. He's got plenty of options to choose from as well, with both Lee Gregory and Martyn Waghorn being able to partner Kazim-Richards in attack.

Should Ryan Edmundson be recalled?

Derby completed a deal to sign Edmundson on loan from Scottish giants Rangers late in the January transfer window, and the defender has gone on to make () appearances for the Rams.

But he was dropped from the starting XI in place of the returning Matt Clarke, who had previously ruled out through injury. Clarke has been a regular in the Derby team this term, so it's seems tricky for Edmundson to force his way into the starting XI in place of him.

But Andre Wisdom could potentially benefit from a rest, with the former Liverpool defender making () appearances in all competitions this term.

Squad rotation is important for any manager, but especially during busy periods of the season, which is what they're currently in.
