Sheffield United will be looking to have a productive summer transfer window as they aim to challenge for promotion in the 22/23 campaign.

The 21/22 season ultimately ended in disappointment as they made the play-offs before falling short in a contested tie with Nottingham Forest.

Paul Heckingbottom will be eager to get the squad ready for next year, then, and here are some of the dilemmas he faces as we head into the summer...

Keeping the key players

Sheffield United have some very talented players in their side and that is why many expected them to win promotion last season.

That never happened, though, and now Heckingbottom needs to try and keep the squad together as much as he can.

If he does, the Blades will be one of the favourites again next season.

How much can they add?

It's going to be interesting to see what the Blades do in terms of money spent.

Sheffield United spent a decent amount last season trying to bounce back immediately and though they are going to have cash to do so again, they may rein it in a little.

Stephen Bettis - CEO of the club - had this to say:

"Look, where we are, it’s no secret we run the club on a sustainable basis. So that doesn’t mean there’s a blank cheque just to go out there and keep spending money. But we spent a lot of money on players, as we all know, when we were in the Premier League and those players are still within our squad,” Bettis told SUTV.
