Aston Villa are set for another campaign in the Championship having finished in mid-table this time out, and the pressure is well and truly on Steve Bruce to take the club back to the Premier League this time next season.

Villa were widely expected to make a return to top-tier at the first attempt during the 2016/2017 season but it hasn't worked out as expected, and the club are facing the difficult task of negotiating the Championship again from August.

Whatever happens, it's clear that Steve Bruce has to add to his squad over the summer months with some individuals having struggled to live up to their initial hype.

And one man we feel would be a superb addition to the squad is £3.4million-rated Derby defender Ikechi Anya.

The former Watford man, who is known for his electric pace on the right-hand side, hasn't featured as much as he might have liked at Pride Park this campaign and with Gary Rowett now at the club, his future is in doubt.

And with Villa having struggled to adapt to life in the second-tier, we think bringing in a man of vast second-division experience would be a superb idea for Steve Bruce if he's to take Villa back into the Premier League.

One man we think could certainly be replaced sooner rather than later is Alan Hutton.

He's a decent player who has done good work in the past at the club but right now, he's not what the club need to really assert their dominance at this level.

Anya is pacy, forward-thinking and exciting.

Villa need players like this to keep their supporters onside, not old-timers who are past their sell-by date.
