With promotion secured, and a debut season in the Premier League to look forward to, Brighton fans will be looking to the summer transfer window to see who will join their side this summer.
With a lot of work to do to ensure their side remain a top flight team for many years to come, Chris Hughton will be scouring the market in an attempt to find the right men to keep his side afloat.
One man who will need replacing at the Amex this summer is former Chelsea midfielder, Steve Sidwell, whose contract with the south coast side is set to expire this summer.
Hughton may look to utilise some of the money he will surely have to spend given the added value of competing in the Premier League to the club’s coffers, but free agency may also provide fruitful pickings to the promotion winning boss.
One man with proven top flight experience available this summer for nothing is Crystal Palace’s, Joe Ledley.
Brighton’s fierce rivals’ midfielder linked up with the club in 2014 after a four-year spell in Scotland with Celtic, and his journey from North to South may be completed this summer.
The player is an experienced international, having amassed 72 Welsh caps since making his bow all the way back in 2005, and the 30-year-old may be the perfect replacement for the departing Sidwell.
Brighton will need experience in their side if they are to compete, and after three years of staving off relegation with the Eagles, Ledley knows what it takes to keep his side amongst England’s elite.
If a new contract does not materialise for Ledley between now and the end of the season, he may well decide to bridge the divide between the rivals this summer.
Ledley would add quality to the Brighton midfield, and would sure to prove an excellent addition to the squad Hughton needs to build over the offseason.
