The Reading fans and squad will be feeling demotivated following their inability to overcome Huddersfield Town last month, as another campaign in the Championship awaits the Royals.

There are a number of positives, however, as Jaap Stam has remained adamant he'll continue his role at the Madejski Stadium to guide the club to the Premier League next year, which is highly possible.

If that is the case then the Dutchman should look further down the Football League and submit a bid for Peterborough United attacker Marcus Maddison, who was placed on the transfer-list following the climax of the League One season.

The 23-year-old has earned himself rave reviews over the last twelve months for his prolific form in the third-tier, that eill have surely raised the attention from numerous clubs in the division above.

Maddison contributed with 17 assists which made him the most efficient provider in League One, and that was topped with a further nine goals.

It's those sort of statistics that earn players a move to the Championship.

If Reading want to push for the top-six again next year then they should use their money wisely as the club does not have the same financial resources as their competitors, meaning looking up and down the pyramid for hidden gems is a wise move.

With other sides bound to be interested, the Royals will have to persuade the midfielder that the ambition to play in the top-flight at Reading is there.
