The East Lancashire derby between Blackburn and Burnley has certainly changed over the years.

A rivalry in which Blackburn were usually the formidable force - being runners-up in the 1993/1994 season and going on to win the title in the season which followed.

Players such as Alan Shearer, an icon for them scoring 37 goals in all competitions in that one season when the team down the road, Burnley, their bitter rivals were relegated to the second division - finishing 22nd.

Between 1982 and 2001 the sides had met four times, Blackburn occupying a 100% record.

But the more the years went on, Burnley became more successful, and Blackburn no longer were the force which made them Premier League title winners.

In the 2009/2010 season, Burnley were sensationally promoted to the Premier League.

It would see the two sides meet in the top-flight for the first time ever and despite Blackburn yet again winning both games, it saw Burnley making huge steps towards a successful era for the club.

With a couple of more relegations occurring, it was clear to see that it was Sean Dyche's Burnley who were on their way up.

We move into present times, and this season Burnley have been outstanding.

Dyche has got a fantastic philosophy at the club and they're a hard team to break down.

The Blackburn fans must be scratching their heads wondering where it all went so wrong for them, and how they have allowed their rivals to surpass them.

Nobody will know when we will see these two Lancashire clubs meet again, but one thing for certain is the staggering differences of fortunes in recent times.

What do you think Blackburn fans? Do you believe you can become the force that once saw you become Premier league winners? How much have the Venky's affected your misfortunes?
