After their relegation from the Premier League last season, many would have predicted an immediate return for the Swans who appointed Graham Potter as their new manager for the 2018/2019 season. They are showing small signs that they can do just that.

Swansea currently sit 6th in the Championship table, a place which provides the final play-off position. Graham Potter's side currently boast the second best defensive record with just six goals conceded in nine league games. Only Middlesbrough have conceded less so far this season.

But there are some reasons to be worried for Swansea fans this season with a number of factors that could jeopardise their title hopes.

We look at these disadvantages compared to those sides also challenging for promotion this year...

There's no debating amongst fans at Swansea, that their main outlet for goals comes from youngster Oliver McBurnie.

The Scotsman has netted four times already this and will be keen to continue his good run for the Swans.

But should McBurnie pick up an injury, Swansea fans have to seriously question exactly who the goals are going to be scored by for the rest of the season.

With fellow youngster Courtney Baker-Richardson being the only recognised striker behind McBurnie in the pecking order, it may be too early to give Baker-Richardson a run in the team, should McBurnie be ruled out.

The lack of goals in the Swansea midfield this season is there to see from recent results.

The Swans have failed to score in seven matches this season which will be a real concern for Graham Potter about what he can do to combat the issue within his side.

Potter has the likes of Wayne Routledge, Jefferson Montero and Barrie McKay to turn to, but they need to show they can chip in with goals.

The lack of depth within the Swansea side compared to the rest of the title challengers in the Championship is evident, with a number of youngsters making up the substitutes' bench this season.

This may be due to Potter giving youngsters a chance in first-team football but should they be called upon in big matches during the course of the season, they may not have the experience needed to perform at the same level that more experienced players would.

So Graham Potter may want to strengthen his side during the January transfer window to add some much-needed depth to his Swansea squad.
