Fulham’s end of season form saw them storm into the Sky Bet Championship’s play-offs at the expense of Leeds United, and under two weeks ago, many were predicting Slavisa Jokanovic’s side to seal promotion back to the Premier League.

However, a 2-1 aggregate defeat to Reading condemned the Cottagers to another season in the Championship, leaving Fulham’s late season push for the play-offs a distant memory.

The future of players like Tom Cairney and Ryan Sessegnon is now being discussed in the media, with a host of top-flight clubs interested in taking the duo away from Craven Cottage this summer.

Fulham have also benefitted from having two Chelsea players on-loan this season, with Tomas Kalas and Lucas Piazon playing important roles for Slavisa Jokanovic’s side.

Both are expected to leave Chelsea permanently in the summer, and Fulham must look to bring the duo back to Craven Cottage next season, particularly after the impact they have had in West London this year.

Kalas has been impressive in defence, making 40 appearances for the Cottagers, whilst Piazon was influential early in the season and made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals.

Both players have stated they would be happy to return to Craven Cottage next summer, as Fulham prepare for another promotion challenge in the Championship.

It will be difficult for Fulham to retain the service of Cairney and Sessegnon, with big money offers from the Premier League, likely to be too good to turn down, meaning it will be essential that Jokanovic keeps the rest of his squad together.

Re-signing Kalas and Piazon, who have both shown glimpses of their class at Craven Cottage, should be one of Jokanovic’s first pieces of business.
