Charlton Athletic midfielder Conor Gallagher has had a promising start to the league season so far, being a positive influence at the right end of the pitch for the Addicks.

The 19-year-old, on loan from Chelsea where he has been since the age of eight years old, has had a better start in senior football than even he could probably expect and has netted five goals in the first 12 Championship games.

Gallagher is a tenacious box-to-box midfielder who is capable of scoring from long range with a sweet right foot.

He battles hard in the tackle to win the ball but is also capable of carrying the ball forward, going by players and finding a pass to one of the forwards or wingers as he looks to create attacks for his team-mates which he then goes and joins in with.

With Lampard having joined Chelsea as their new manager in the summer, the former Derby County manager and Chelsea legend has an eye on the young players at Stamford Bridge, having given the likes of Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori a chance to stake a claim for the shirt so far this season, all giving back the trust paid to them by the manager.

Gallagher will be one of the better prospects that Chelsea's record goalscorer is casting his eye on over the next few months, hoping that his starlet can tear the Championship apart just like Abraham, Mount and Tomori were doing last season for the likes of Aston Villa and Derby County.

The exciting midfielder, who has listed Lampard as being his role model growing up, will have one eye on his personal future, but Gallagher will be feeling that his current form, similar to Mount's of last season, could be enough to earn himself a place in the Chelsea squad upon his return to Stamford Bridge as he continues to set the Championship alight from the heart of midfield with his impressive performances.
