Despite a wonderful season for Leeds United, it ended in disappointment with the club finishing outside of the Play-Offs despite looking nailed on for a top six finish.

The club spent much of the season in the Play-Off spot and even looked like they could push for an automatic spot in the top two, but fell out of the top six after a dismal month in April, and finished seven.

Their issues were compounded by the fact that manager Garry Monk, who guided them to what was, compared to recent seasons, an extreme change in fortunes, resigned and recently took the vacant post at Middlesbrough.

Whoever takes over will have to find a new left-back, as Charlie Taylor refused a new contract with the club and will leave to what looks to be West Bromwich Albion this summer.

With that in mind, we believe Leeds should be looking at Greg Cunningham of Preston North End to fill his spot in the time, one of the Championship's most underrated players.

Cunningham struggled to push his way into the side when at Bristol City and was kept out of his left wing-back role by Joe Bryan.

His move to Preston, however, has seen him flourish and he has turned into one of their most important players, with some fans even protesting that he warranted a place in the Championship team of the season.

We do not believe that signing Cunningham (rated at £425k on Transfermarkt) would set Leeds back an awful lot of money and it's a realistic deal for them to complete, and if they could, he could be the addition to an already solid defence that they've been looking for.

Leeds fans... What do you make of this? Do you thing Cunningham would be a good signing? Let us know in the comments below.
