Following Blackburn Rovers releasing their retained list, we now know one player of many who won’t be playing at Ewood Park next season and that is centre-back Gordon Greer.
The 32-year-old is amongst the list of eight players who will be departing the club this summer, alongside the likes of Jason Lowe and Wes Brown, but now it is time for Tony Mowbray to find a replacement for the ex-Brighton defender.
One suggestion is former Port Vale man Remie Streete, whom was let go by the League One outfit following their relegation and a massive overhaul of the squad.
At 22 years of age, the defensive-minded player was one of the highest earners at Vale Park and as a result was subsequently released upon the expiration of his contract, but Blackburn should snap him up if they want a top-half finish next season.
Streete made 37 appearances for the Valiants in what was a dismal campaign for the third-tier outfit, who will be plying their trade in League Two for the first time in four years.
He does, however, have the ability to score a goal or two.
The towering centre-back bagged five goals in the 2016/17 term for Port Vale, which is quite impressive for a player of his position.
Blackburn Rovers must sign Remie Streete because he is simply a promising defender who has the potential to lead the club to a promotion charge.
Alongside that, they are suffering financially, so to acquire him for free is an absolute no brainer.
Blackburn supporters, would you welcome Remie Streete? Is he an improvement? What does the centre-back offer to your current set-up? Let us hear your thoughts in the comments below!
