Charlton Athletic have played their way to the very top of the football pyramid, having been in the Premier League in the days when the likes of Darren Bent lined up for them.

They’ve since had a fall down the EFL and currently reside in League One. However, under the guidance of Ben Garner, they’re hoping to head back up the divisions again. They’ve certainly accumulated plenty of fans in their time though and that has ultimately led to plenty of celebrities becoming supporters of the club too.

Even with the club in the third tier, there are a handful of stars who still regularly follow the club and shall be hoping that Garner can lead them to at least a promotion into the Championship this campaign.

Here then, are some of the celebrities that supposedly support the Addicks.

Steve Davis – Snooker Player

If we take a look at another sport – in this case snooker – you’ll find that one of the most famous names to have ever picked up a cue is a fan of Charlton in Steve Davis. The former player was a world number one in the eighties and was huge in his own sport but away from the table, he liked to keep an eye on the Addicks.

That’s despite Davis having also had a spot on the board with Leyton Orient. Even with conflicting interests, the player still supported Charlton and still does to this day. He is now retired and doesn’t play his own sport anymore but – aside from looking for Addicks’ results – he commentates on the sport still and has an involvement in the non-playing side of the game.

Lee Ryan – Singer

Lee Ryan – who some of you may or may not know as a member of the band ‘Blue’ – is another big follower of Charlton.

It was even stated on the band’s official website that he followed the club and he remains a keen fan of the side. Ryan has had to share time then between singing for his band and keeping tabs on the Addicks. As well as producing music, he's also featured on TV through soaps like Eastenders and has also been involved in reality programmes like Celebrity Big Brother.

Gemma Arterton - Actress

Finally, over to another type of celebrity and an actress now in Gemma Arterton.

The 36-year-old may have graced stage and screen via TV shows, films and the theatre but she too is a big fan of Charlton Athletic.

She's been spotted with an Addicks kit and it'll be good then for supporters of the club to see someone so famous doing the club proud on a big stage. She most recently featured in The King's Man and has also won awards for her showing in Quantum of Solace.
