Cardiff have had a rather inconsistent start to the season as they sit in 11th place after eleven games. Up until the latest defeat at West Brom, the Bluebirds had been unbeaten since mid-August when they were hammered at Reading.

Neil Warnock's side have slowly pushed up the table, but are still looking for an out and out goalscorer to find the back of the net and guide them to a top six finish.

During the summer, Warnock and Cardiff signed striker Robert Glatzel from German side, Heidenheim. It was a statement of intent from the Bluebirds as they had high hopes for the forward to be the one that could hit the back of the net and get them back up to the Premier League.

However, so far this season it hasn't quite worked out for the striker, although that isn't through lack of trying. The 25-year-old has netted just two goals in the Championship this season, and is struggling to gain any real consistent form as he looks to make it in the English divisions.

One man who's hot on his tail is striker Danny Ward. He came on in the defeat to West Brom and scored twice, which now takes his tally above rival striker Glatzel and gives Warnock quite a big dilemma to think about.

There have been hints that a partnership may be tried out in the future and that could solve a lot of problems for the German striker. He must be feeling very lonely at the top end of the pitch, as at times he can hold up the play but there's no one around him.

Saying that, he did miss a crucial chance in the game at the Hawthorns, and it wasn't the first time this season either. He knows he has to do better, but maybe he's requested to the staff that he wants to play next to someone in the attacking areas.

If this move is to be tried out and works, then it could be the start of a new formation for the Bluebirds, and could kick-start Glatzel's Cardiff career.
