Everyone in the Championship has been taking stock at the top-six that is slowly beginning to form and for Cardiff City fans, they're in dreamland.

The Bluebirds have flown to the top of the division and are looking seriously impressive, winning all four of their opening matches to cement their place as early Championship leaders.

Their impressive 2-1 victory against Wolves this weekend confirmed their threat at this level and for Neil Warnock, he'll be delighted to see his players working so hard to far outperform where some had predicted they might finish this season.

And one man that has been a huge part of their success so far is Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who has been an absolute revelation having moved to Cardiff from Rochdale this summer.

The most impressive part is that this is a player who was a free transfer and has played for eight clubs in eight years, most of them further down the footballing ladder.

But what Mendez-Laing has brought to the wing in this Cardiff XI is pace, energy and a goalscoring instinct - he's scored five in five already this campaign.

He's showing the best form of his career and the Bluebirds supporters are lapping up every single last minute of it too.

And why would you blame them? It's been a tough few years in the second-tier, with ownership issues proving to be difficult but right now, they're flying high and players like Mendez-Laing have been a huge part of that.

If they can keep up the good performances and this winning ability, then who knows? Cardiff might be one to watch come the end of the campaign.
