Cardiff City are in the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Neil Warnock earlier this week in the aftermath of his side's 1-0 defeat to Bristol City over the weekend.

Josh Brownhill scored the only goal of the game as the Bluebirds saw their unbeaten home league run come to an end at the hands of their Severnside rivals, and this proved to be Warnock's final bow before he then left the club by mutual consent on Monday.

The nature of Cardiff's disappointing to the season meant it seemed like the most appropriate time for Warnock to say his farewell, but this does not mean there won't be many Cardiff fans still hugely disappointed by his departure after three years at the helm.

The 70-year-old transformed a divided bottom-half Championship side into a Premier League outfit within two years, and Bluebirds fans will certainly remember him for his excellent achievements at the club far more than his recent failures.

Cardiff's squad may also take a while to adjust to the development given that many of them worked under Warnock for much of his three-year reign, while they will have fond memories of Warnock given what they have achieved under his guidance.

One of those players who will certainly feel the impact of Warnock's departure is Sol Bamba, particularly given that the former boss made the defender one of his first signings at the club following his arrival, and heavily relied on the 34-year-old throughout his stint at the helm.

Bamba has enjoyed a hugely successful three years since his arrival in the Welsh capital, and he would have been eager to return to first-team to action following his injury lay-off to provide reinforcement for Warnock's side's defence.

The former Leeds man will still be pushing hard for a starting spot after making his injury comeback earlier this month, but he will surely regret the fact he was not able to help more on the pitch towards the end of Warnock's reign, even though his injury problems were of course out of his control.

Bamba has been able to form a close connection with the Bluebirds during his time in South Wales, so Warnock's departure will not affect his commitment to the club, but he will now need to somewhat re-adapt following the manager's exit.
