Blackburn Rovers have definitely intended on consolidating themselves as favourites to mount a title-winning challenge in League One ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

Following their drop to the third-tier on the last day of last season, the playing squad needed drastic attention and boss Tony Mowbray has ensured positivity will return to Ewood Park soon enough.

Their magnificent signings this window has superbly earned them the right to be tipped for promotion back to the Championship, especially when you consider the additions of Ben Gladwin, Peter Whittingham, Richie Smallwood, Bradley Dack and most recently Dominic Samuel.

Mowbray would ideally be completing his acquisitions with the capture of £638,000-rated winger Abdenasser El Khayati, currently rotting away in the stands at Queens Park Rangers.

Firstly, Blackburn are one player short in the wide positions and that drastically needs to be attended to as the season swiftly approaches.

El Khayati joined QPR in February 2016 but has found little joy at Loftus Road since, enduring a loan spell in his native Netherlands last term to get regular minutes on the pitch and did, thankfully, find his goal scoring touch once again.

The 28-year-old has also gained promotion during his career having played a pivotal role in Burton Albion's stunning rise up the leagues, helping them earn a right to be in the third-tier, and had some say in their hope of promotion to the Championship prior to his switch to the capital.

Blackburn Rovers need a character around the club such as Abdenasser El Khayati if they want instant success and a transfer shouldn't be too difficult to arrange, as QPR remain keen to loosen ties with the winger.

Rovers' supporters, do you feel Mowbray still needs a winger in his ranks? Does this man fit the bill? What other positions demand one or two additions? Tell us your opinions in the comment section below!
