Bristol City's season last time out suffered real peaks and troughs as they limped over the line to Championship safety.

Improvements will have to come thick and fast over the summer if things are to get better next season and manager Lee Johnson has a lot of work to really get the fans back onside, after losing some of the faith during parts of the last campaign.

The re-development of Ashton Gate means success should be coming thicker and faster down at City these days, but improvements must be made to the first-team squad over the summer to ensure things do get better.

But one man that might not be apart of the Bristol side next season is Aden Flint, who has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The towering centre-back found himself in inspired form last season as Bristol surprised some of the "bigger" sides in the division and rightly so, the centre-back should be set for a step up the divisions sooner rather than later.

And moving forward, we think it should be Aston Villa who really push through with a move for the talented defender, with reinforcements definitely needed over the coming months in order for Villa to make more of a push for promotion next time around.

Despite Nathan Baker and James Chester forming a decent partnership last season, with Micah Richards and Tommy Elphick both struggling for first-team action, there might be defensive outgoings in the Midlands over the summer.

That would more than pave the way for a move for Flint, who would be a quality addition to a Villa side that certainly needs more protection at the back next campaign.

He deserves to make the step-up and there's every hope that if Villa do make a big enough offer, Flint could be on his way to a team that will soon find themselves back in the Premier League,
