Said Benrahma scored his first goal of the season in Brentford’s 3-0 victory over Swansea City in the Championship, and finally looks to be hitting form for Thomas Frank this season.

Brentford’s dismal start to the campaign has come to a halt.

The Bees sit mid-table in the Championship after their shock 3-0 win in South Wales last night - four points off of the players.

It follows a turning point in Brentford’s season. Thomas Frank’s side staged a late comeback win over Millwall at the weekend, where they scored three goals in the final six minutes of the game to take all three points.

Benrahma shone that day, getting himself two assists. And he was again impressive in his side’s win last night, scoring his first goal of the season with a fine effort from outside the box, opening the scoring on what would be Brentford’s best night all season.

The Algerian midfielder joined Brentford from French outfit Nice at the start of last season, and scored ten championship goals in 38 appearances.

He quickly became a hit at Griffin Park but in this, their final season at their home of over 100 years, Benrahma has failed to light it up as he did last in his debut season.

It’s taken him 11 Championship games to get his first goal this season but he, like his team, looks to have turned a corner recently.

In the absence of Sergi Canos to injury, Benrahma has really stepped up to the plate for Brentford in the last two games - He looks hungry to rectify his goals tally for this campaign, and could guide Brentford to an unlikely play-off push before the New Year.

Brentford are certainly cracking on with their season now. Having won three of their last five in the league, losing just once, they’ve become a form team in the Championship and will be a real threat to QPR in the West London derby on Monday night.

Frank has been relying on Ollie Watkins for much of the season so far - going into the break, he'd scored seven of Brentford's nine league goals.

But new scorers have emerged since and Watkins can feel slightly less under pressure. Benrahma was a key player last season and he looks set to be that again this season after getting off-the-mark last night.

He and the likes of Watkins and Bryan Mbuemo who's also scored in the last two wins look to be a really threatening front-three for Brentford, and they could yet mount an unlikely play-off push this season.
