Football League World's Cardiff City fan pundit Rhys Davies has called on Neil Warnock to significantly strengthen his side during the upcoming January transfer window.

It comes after Alan Nixon of The Sun linked the Blue Birds with a move for former Manchester City goalkeeper Curtis Nelson, although Davies does not think this move alone would satisfy the fans.

"I think if this was the only January singing Warnock made then there would be a few disappointed opinions floating around," the regular punter told Football League World.

"Cardiff could do with another striker given the lack of firepower thus far this season, although Robert Glatzel has scored two goals in his last three league games for the Bluebirds."

Since arriving in the summer from FC Heidenheim in the German second division, Glatzel has scored just twice ineight appearances so far, a penalty against Derby County and a poachers goal against Hull.

But it is not just in attack where Davies has his concerns.

"Another defender could also prove to be good business considering Sol Bamba’s injury problems," he said.

"The Championship is a long and gruelling campaign and the Bluebirds will need options if key players are to get injured."

Bamba has not made an appearance this season after suffering a serious injury in their Premier League defeat to Wolves back in March.

Following their relegation from the Premier League last season, Cardiff have made a steady start to life back in the second-tier, picking up three wins from their opening nine matches and sitting in 12th place.
