Blackburn have the chance to move top of League One with a victory against Bury tomorrow with Tony Mowbray's side now showing the form that many had expected from them.

The ex-Celtic manager has moulded a strong squad that has a good blend of youth and experience and will be hoping his players can maintain their high standards until the end of the season.

Despite the regular off the field issues that can disrupt the atmosphere at the club, Rovers fans will be delighted with the team that Mowbray has built and can see a real determination within the group.

Whilst the first team are doing well, so are the U23 side who sit top of their Premier League 2 division which shows the quality that Rovers have coming through.

Here we look at two players who could soon make the step up to the senior side.

The attacking midfielder has impressed many at Blackburn since joining from Manchester United over three years ago and is constantly improving his game.

With an eye for goal, Rankin-Costello has been a standout player for the successful U23 side but has yet to feature in League One, although he has got minutes in the Checkatrade Trophy.

However, he still has time on his side and games are sure to come by as Mowbray has shown he is prepared to give talented youngsters a chance, which the 18-year old certainly is.

The 18-year old is another who joined Blackburn after spending years at Manchester United and he is another who has real potential.

The young forward signed his first professional contract in October which will keep him at Ewood Park until 2020.

After a flying start to the season with the U18s, Butterworth was rewarded with promotion to the U23s and he has continued to find the net.

If this form continues a chance with the senior group seems inevitable.
