Blackburn's promotion means that changes to the squad are likely.

Tony Mowbray steered Rovers to promotion at the first time of asking after they were relegated from the Championship on the final day. They were part of a rare season in which all three relegated teams went straight back up with Rotherham completing the achievement by beating Shrewsbury Town in the League One Play-Off Final.

Blackburn will need to adapt to this new division with incomings to bolster the squad, but they can take heart from the fact that all three promoted teams avoided the drop last season without spending a lot. Therefore, it's achievable on a small budget.

Here are three players who have uncertain futures...

Leutwiler was brought in from Shrewsbury last summer as competition for the goalkeeping position, but he has been unable to get past David Raya in the pecking order. He made one league appearance in the penultimate game of the season with promotion already secured.

They have little need for two senior goalkeepers considering the consistency Raya has show because a young goalkeeper could be used as back-up. Therefore, this summer will be his last chance of making a case for a first-team role next season, and it's unlikely that he is going to be able to change Mowbray's thinking.

Caddis was another summer acquisition that didn't quite pan out, although he was a free agent and added depth as a squad player filling in when needed. He did make 14 league appearances, but his role as a rotation option is under threat with the move up divisions.

Rovers already have Ryan Nyambe and Elliott Bennett for the right-back role, so they have options in that position and could bring in someone else better suited to this level in the summer. Caddis needs to use the summer as a chance to state his importance in the team to Mowbray because he's likely to be leaving otherwise.

Whittingham was involved in 20 league games last season, but at 33-years-old he isn't a long-term option for the team, so he needs to use this summer to prove that he can use his vast experience to help them out at this level as they get used to the division.

Aside from his experience, he offers little because they have plenty of options in central midfield. Danny Graham and Charlie Mulgrew both have experience in the Championship from earlier in their respective careers, so they can fill the leadership roles. Whittingham may have helped them get promoted, but he has to prove his usefulness or risk leaving in the summer.
