There's a lot to like about Birmingham City right now, with Pep Clotet enjoying a positive start to life at St. Andrew's.

Most acknowledged that the Spaniard had a big job on his hands but he has done well so far, implementing a new style of play and his summer recruits are playing a key part as Blues sit two points outside the play-offs.

Another positive will be the way he has given youth a chance at the club.

The obvious success story has been Jude Bellingham, with the outrageously talented 16-year-old already managing to establish himself as a key player for Blues.

However, another academy graduate who has caught the eye is Odin Bailey.

The 19-year-old has only featured in four Championship games this term but he has already made a significant impact, with his late winner against Middlesbrough earlier this month sparking wild scenes at St. Andrew's.

As well as scoring the goal, Bailey, who can play across the forward line, showed he has a lot to his game with his pace, movement and desire to do well.

His energy off the ball is another useful quality he boasts and the teenager will be desperate for Clotet to give him more chances moving forward.

Even though Blues are doing well, scoring goals has been a problem, so you wouldn't be surprised to see more tinkering in the coming weeks in terms of personnel and perhaps systems as Clotet looks to find the right formula.

Therefore, Bailey knows that some chances will come his way, even if he does have to be patient.

At 19, it's important for him to remember that he isn't going to be playing each week when you look at the experienced options Blues have.

So, it's about taking any chances that came his way. Of course, that's what he did against Boro and he has only had 15 minutes of action since - but you can be sure that Clotet hasn't forgot about that contribution.

Additionally, Bailey needs to keep impressing in training and doing his best every day to try and get into the plans of Clotet over the coming months.

But, he should know that he is at a club that are willing to give academy lads a chance and more minutes will come as the games come thick and fast over the hectic next few months.

Then, it's down to Bailey to try and make another decisive impact.
