These are exciting times down at Fratton Park for Portsmouth and for new manager Kenny Jackett, who has been trusted to take the reins down on the South Coast.

The former Wolves boss takes over from Paul Cook as Pompey look to continue to climb the football league ladder after years of financial hardship that saw them plummet down the divisions.

But they hung on and seem to be on their way back and the job is now very much in the hands of Jackett to not only keep them in League One but to lead a play-off charge too.

His budget isn’t going to be astronomical but there’s one man I'd love to see link up with him down at Fratton Park and that’s Birmingham City starlet Jack Storer.

Not a household name by any means just yet but a player Birmingham fans saw plenty from last summer as he led their pre-season charge with a haul of seven goals.

A feisty young striker, Storer suffered a real setback in his St Andrews career when he was sent off for a headbutt during a 3-1 defeat to Wolves back in November last year but with good coaching, he’s a player that continues to show promise every time he steps on the pitch.

Quick, lively and with a real eye for goal, he could be the sort of player that comes out of the blue to really help Pompey with their charge for the League One play-off places.

He might not be the most revered player in the world right now but Jack Storer needs a chance.

Portsmouth would be a great start.
