There have been big changes at Birmingham City under Harry Redknapp, with the former Tottenham boss set to make yet more changes to his squad as he attempts to guide the Blues away from the relegation spots they so narrowly avoided last season.

A number of new faces have joined the revolution in recent weeks including former Barnsley defender Marc Roberts, and the squad has been notably strengthened since Redknapp took charge.

One man who may fear for his future at St Andrew's, however, is 33-year-old striker Clayton Donaldson, who with just a year remaining on his contract, could be on his way out of the club if a suitable replacement can be found before the transfer window slams shut at the start of September.

While he's not been strongly touted for a move away, perhaps the idea of selling him while they can, could enter the club's thinking.

Still, so early in his tenure, Redknapp should consider retaining the services of the former Brentford striker, who boasts a record of almost a goal every three games for the club.

Donaldson is a natural goalscorer and impressed with Crewe before joining Brentford, and although he is entering the latter stages of his career, the player still has a lot to offer at this level.

The Jamaican international has a knack for scoring important goals, and having a player with this characteristic is a blessing at any level of the game.

Donaldson is a tall, powerful forward, whose willingness to work off the ball and defend from the front could prove useful in certain situations for Redknapp next year.

If Birmingham are to pull away from the bottom three and firmly establish themselves as a mid table side, they will need players of Donaldson’s ilk and experience, and Redknapp should certainly find a place for the forward in his squad this season.

What impact can Donaldson have at St Andrews this year, Brum fans?
