Nottingham Forest are on a run of eight games without a win in the Championship following Tuesday's 1-0 reverse at the hands of Preston North End.

Since Dougie Freedman arrived at the City Ground the Scottish manager has not really been able to get his best team out on the pitch in every game, and that has proved a serious detriment to the team and their results.

The Reds traveled north on Tuesday night with no fewer than 10 players missing either through injury or suspension, and it is proving a cause for concern for the team at present.

With Freedman seemingly under increasing pressure from the club's hierarchy he will be desperate to turn results around and fast, and not only that but he will be delighted to see players return from injury into the first-team fold.

Football League World's Lee Clarke takes a look at the best eleven the Forest boss has had at his disposal since taking over.

GK - Dorus de Vries

The big Dutchman makes the team based on his performances so far this season.

Were it not for the ex-Swansea City man, it doesn't bare thinking about where Forest would be in the table and the experienced stopper has been one of the Reds' most consistent performers this season.

RB - Eric Lichaj

Easiest position on the pitch to pick is the right-back position with the American import firmly the most in-form player at present.

Was recently named as the club's Player of the Month for October, which was just rewards after a superb start to the season.

CB - Matt Mills

One of Freedman's summer signings whilst Mills' quality is questionable at times, the back four looks much more solid with the ex-Bolton man present.

Can be quite clumsy off the ball, as was shown in a recent game with Hull City, when he gave away a needless penalty and was then later sent off for a brutal elbow.

CB - Jack Hobbs

The ex-Hull City man just gets the nod over Kelvin Wilson based purely on his ability to read the game.

Hobbs' experience is vital to the Reds cause and Freedman will be hopeful in the coming months that the defender can rediscover his best form.

Gets the nod over Kelvin Wilson based purely on the little bit of pace he possesses more than the ex-Celtic defender.

LB - Dani Pinillos

The left-back position has for a long time been a problem area for Nottingham Forest but in Pinillos the Reds look to have now found a man to grab the shirt with both hands.

The Spaniard signed on a free transfer in the summer and has looked the part during the eleven games that he has played for the club so far.

DM - David Vaughan

Vaughan, like de Vries in goal, is getting the nod for selection on the back of his performances this season.

For me the Wales international has been Forest's standout performer so far during the 2015/16 campaign with a series of combative displays in protecting the back four.

He does need to keep his discipline in check going forward and misses the Preston trip having picked up his fifth yellow card of the season at Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

CM - Henri Lansbury

Unlike some Forest supporters I see the ex-Arsenal midfielder for what he really is - quality!

The form that was shown by the 25-year-old when Freedman first took the managerial reigns was simply superb.

During the boss' first month in charge the midfielder netted in every game he played and was awarded the Player of the Month for the whole league.

Has missed the last three games through suspension but will be back and raring to go for Friday night's East Midlands derby against Derby County.

CM - Gary Gardner

The Aston Villa midfielder will go down in my eyes as the best loan signing that Nottingham Forest has every recruited.

His energetic performances put some of our permanent players to shame at the back end of last season and some of the goals he netted were simply breathtaking.

I would have Gardner in any Forest starting eleven from the last ten years - he really was that good!

RW - Michail Antonio

Despite his somewhat acrimonious departure from the club which saw the player state his ambitions to leave for the Premier League, it is impossible to leave the former Sheffield Wednesday man out.

His tricky skills and ability to score from any situation were plain to see last season.

His best during Freedman's reign was against Rotherham United last season when he seemingly jinxed past the entire Millers team before smashing home a finish fit to grace any level of football.

LW - Ryan Mendes

When Mendes signed from French outfit Lille I have to be honest he was a completely unknown quantity to me.

Whilst he has taken a little while to adapt to the English game, he has rolled his sleeves up and worked hard for the team.

Very raw and direct, it will be interesting to see how the youngster links up with Britt Assombalonga, when the ex-Peterborough United man returns from injury.

ST - Britt Assombalonga

Okay, so Assombalonga played in just over a game and a half for Freedman last season before his injury came that would rule him out for a year.

I have put Assombalonga in this team based on the fact that not a single striker who Freedman has used to replace the powerful striker has produced the goods.

Forest are crying out for goals and the return of the 22-year-old cannot come soon enough for the Reds.
