Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi has reportedly told striker Jason Cummings that he is free to leave the club ahead of the new season, according to a report from Nottinghamshire Live.

Lamouchi evidently doesn't see a future for the forward at the City Ground, and he faces a race against time to move him on before the transfer window closes.

In our latest FLW Six Pointer, we look into Cummings' rumoured departure in more detail.

Firstly, how did Cummings perform last season?

"Cummings spent the first-half of the season on loan with League One side, Peterborough United, where he scored six goals in 22 appearances for Posh.

"But his loan was terminated in January 2019, and he spent the rest of the season with Luton Town, as they won promotion back into the Championship.

"The forward scored once in five appearances for the Hatters, and would have hoped to have been given a chance in the Forest first-team."

Are Nottingham Forest making the right decision in looking to move him on?

"I think it's the best move for both parties involved.

"Cummings evidently isn't part of Lamouchi's plans for the future, so he should be looking at resolving his long-term future as soon as possible if he wants to further his career.

"The Reds need to trim the wage bill ahead of the new season, and moving Cummings on is definitely the right call as they look to clear out the 'deadwood' in the first-team squad."

Is there any chance he could remain at the City Ground ahead of next season?

"It seems as though it's only a matter of time before he is to leave the club.

"Cummings spent last season away from Nottingham Forest, and he should be looking at finding himself a new club at the earliest of opportunities to find regular game time.

"He's well down the pecking order in the Forest squad and if he wants to be playing regularly, then he'll be eyeing a move away from the City Ground.

"I would expect to see teams registering their interest in signing him before the transfer window closes."

Does Lamouchi have better options available to him in attack?

"Yes, without a doubt.

"Forest already have the likes of Lewis Grabban available to them, and there is absolutely no chance that Cummings is good enough to be replacing him anytime soon.

"It wouldn't come as a surprise to see Lamouchi sign another striker before the new season gets underway as well, as they could benefit from having strength in depth in that area, as they look to finish inside the top six in next year's league campaign."

Could a move to another Championship club be on the cards?

"This is a possibility in the near future.

"Cummings will feel as though he has unfinished business in the Championship, as he hasn't made a notable impact for the Reds in his time with the club.

"But it has recently been exclusively revealed to Football League World that Cummings is attracting interest from a number of clubs in Scotland.

"The striker first made a name for himself playing for Hibernian, and he could be tempted by a move back to where he started his career."

How should Forest fans feel about his rumoured departure?

"They'll be keen to see the back of him.

"Cummings hasn't made the impact he would have hoped to since arriving at the City Ground back in 2017 from Hibernian.

"He's only made 17 appearances across a two-year-spell with the Reds and Forest supporters will know that his days with the club were numbered heading into the new season."
