Derby have really hit form as of late and are starting to justify why they are one of the promotion favourites.

But then again, they have been promotion favourites for the last few seasons so what has changed since then.

Clement's added defensive rigour to the side in the shape of Shackell and also some attacking talent in the shape of former Norwich man Bradley Johnson.

Derby have one of the strongest squads in the league brimming with talent, and if Clement can finally get it right they will take some stopping this season.

Derby have been very well organised this season having only leaked 10 goals and scoring 21, and have one of the best goal differences in the division.

If frontman Chris Martin stays free from injury and Ince keeps supplying assists then they will be hard to stop.

But what is Derby's best XI under Clement, in the opinion of FLW's Michael Hasan, here it is......

GK - Scott Carson

Carson has been an assured presence between the sticks for Derby, which has been a change from the norm.

Lee Grant was very inconsistent for Derby last season and despite being able to pull off the odd worldie, he was also accustomed to a few clangers.

Carson who is a former England international has been much more solid and a good leader and organiser at the back. With him between the sticks Derby won't be leaking many goals.

LB - Craig Forsyth

Was a tight call with Chris Baird but he suits Clement's style of play a bit more.

He is a very attacking full back who sometimes forgets his defensive responsibilities but is overall a more useful asset and creates bagfuls of chances.

Often, if Derby are leading Baird is brought on as a more defensively minded player who is a more assured presence and makes less mistakes.

RB - Cyrus Christie

Another very attacking full back in Derby's possession rivalling the best right backs in the league.

His pace is lightning and his crossing is ever improving, the only aspect of the game he needs to improve is his defending rather like his other full-back partner Forsyth.

He had a tendency to be ripped apart by the divisions best wingers but has improved defensively this season and can tend to all facets of the fame now.

If he has improved defensively it will be a big boost to Derby's chances at promotion.

CB - Richard Keogh

Keogh

Their captain and leader and one of there most important players.

His blunder in the play-off final a couple of years ago haunts him but it has not affected the quality of his play.

Derby have often found it difficult to consolidate a permanent partner for him at centre-back but may have found it this season.

Keogh made team of the season last year, and is undoubtedly one of the best centre-backs in the division.

CB - Jason Shackell

The defensive partner that Derby fans were dreaming of for captain Richard Keogh.

The Burnley rock was one of the biggest signings of the summer and after his incredible record and performance at Burnley, he will look to mirror that form at Derby.

Derby's shaky defence has often held them back from promotion with them giving away goals at a bad time, but with Shackell at the back, one would imagine they will be prone to blunders less occasionally.

CM - George Thorne

The player will provide the more defensive role of this partnership and is one of the best midfielders in the Championship.

Since he signed from West Brom he has been blighted by injury and struggled for fitness.

Now he is back he is already showing his worth and is in great form, and doing an excellent job of protecting the defence.

He is like a new signing and is absolutely vital to Derby's promotion push.

CM - Craig Bryson

One of the best box-to-box midfielders in the Championship and the more attacking option of the two central midfielders.

He is known for his goalscoring ability highlighted by a hat-trick he got against Nottingham Forest a few years back.

He has been sorely missed by the fans and management alike this season with his injury and his re-emergence which will happen this season, will show what a valuable asset he is to Derby in getting promotion.

CAM - Bradley Johnson- The former Norwich man was one of the signings of the summer and played a crucial part in getting Norwich promotion last year. Whilst he does play on the left usually he can also play behind the striker and will create plenty of goalscoring chances. He also showed last year at Norwich that he is a great leader and able to contribute a useful supply of goals as well. A truly great signing which will be crucial in them getting promoted.

LM - Tom Ince

One of the best young English talents at this level, he has struggled to settle at a club but his excellent form for Derby last season made sure he signed on a permanent for this season.

His pace will unnerve any defence and he will  core plenty of goals himself, whilst providing a healthy supply of assists too.

RM - Johnny Russell

One of the most underrated players in the league, often providing a large impact when he comes off the bench.

He causes any defence problems and steps up for the occasion when needed.

The forward scores goals and creates a host of chances for the team's focal point Chris Martin, and is crucial to their success.

ST - Chris Martin

martinnn

One of the best out-and-out strikers in the league, he is a guaranteed 20 goal-a-season striker and is the team's focal point and main source of goals.

Whilst an injury to him may prove costly, he is one of the most lethal strikers in the division and the single most important player to Derby's success this season

If Clement uses him in the right system he will undoubtedly fire them to promotion.
