Both Ipswich and Derby are having almost identical seasons when it comes to form in the Championship.

Sitting in 15th and 16th place respectively, both teams were expected to do much better this season following play off  disappointment last time out.

The Rams have already changed manager, while the Tractor Boys have stuck with Mick McCarthy thus far and were rewarded with an excellent win over Sheffield Wednesday in their last game.

Both teams have excellent players, it is just a case of getting them all to click and play together.

In this article, FLW writer Lee Connor takes a look at the best combined eleven from Derby and Ipswich...

GK - Bartosz Bialkowski

Bartosz Bialkowskid

Derby might have Scott Carson, but I am plumping for Bialkowski in goal for this team.

The Ipswich stopper has been a regular fixture now for a while, and is capable of pulling off spectacular saves. A solid Championship goalkeeper, Mick McCarthy is lucky to have him.

RB - Cyrus Christie

The Irish full back is one of the best right backs in the Championship, and he makes this team with some ease really.

Christie is an excellent overall defender, and offers an outlet going forward too.

CB - Luke Chambers

Chambers is a solid defender, and can be relied upon to be on of the Ipswich teams ever presents.

The Ipswich man is one of the most consistent performers in the Championship, and he would slot nicely into a lot of teams in the league.

CB - Jason Shackell

I have always thought Shackell was the better of the two out of him and Keogh, and he makes this eleven by some margin.

Shackell has plenty of experience and class in the Championship. Despite not being at his very best over the past 12 months, he is still a top centre half on his day.

LB - Jonas Knudsen

The big throwing full back is fast becoming one of the better left backs in the league.

Knudsen is an excellent defender and has become and ever present for Mick McCarthy this season.

RM - Tom Ince

Ince is capable of playing across multiple positions, so it doesn't really matter where he is slotted into this team.

Ince is one of few players in the Championship who can win a game with a moment of brilliance. Derby are lucky to have him, and his upturn in form has coincided with Derby getting some better results on the board.

CM - Grant Ward

The former Tottenham man has been a revelation since making the move to Ipswich, and he would slot in nicely to plenty of teams in the Championship.

Ward is capable of scoring the spectacular and his box to box style makes him a dangerous and effective player for any side to have.

CM - Will Hughes

Will Hughesmnf

The young England man is one of the best players outside of the top flight, and can no doubt count on a move to the Premier League in the next few seasons.

Hughes is a real talent at central midfield. Derby are extremely lucky to have such a talent, and if they do not get promotion soon, it is inevitable that Hughes will move on.

LM - Tom Lawrence

Tom Lawrence

The former Man United man might drift in and out of games, but for pure talent and ability to win a game, Lawrence does have ability.

His goal against Sheffield Wednesday demonstrated his talent perfectly, and Ipswich fans will be hoping to see more of this as the season progresses.

Fwd - Matej Vydra

matej-vydrad

The former Udinese and Watford man might not have exactly set the world alight so far at the Ipro, but he is still a class act.

If Vydra can get himself back into form, then he will score. Derby will need him to find this form soon if they are to mount any sort of promotion push.

Fwd - Freddie Sears

sears

He might not be a prolific goalscorer, but Freddie Sears is an excellent player for Mick McCarthy.

Sears works so so hard up front, and creates space and time for his team mates due to his work. If Sears could simply add a few more goals to his game, then he could well be one of the top strikers in the division.
