Fulham have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions over the past five seasons.

After sealing promotion in the 2017/18 campaign, the Cottagers were immediately relegated back to the Championship in the following season.

Under the guidance of Scott Parker, Fulham defeated Brentford in the 2020 play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

Parker was unable to guide his side to safety during the 2020/21 season as the Cottagers once again suffered relegation from the Premier League.

Drafted in as Parker's successor last year, Marco Silva oversaw some fantastic performances in the Championship during the previous campaign.

Fulham won the second-tier title earlier this month and are now preparing for a return to the top-flight.

During this particular period of the club's history, the Cottagers were able to call upon the services of some classy operators.

Here, we have decided to build the best combined Fulham XI using players who featured for the club in the last five seasons.

Do you agree with our choices?

Although he was unable to prevent Fulham from suffering relegation last year, Alphonse Areola managed to produce some encouraging performances in the top-flight.

During the 36 appearances that he made at this level, the goalkeeper managed to record a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.71.

Following his loan spell at Craven Cottage, Areola joined West Ham United on a temporary basis and went on to play 18 games for the club in all competitions during the 2021/22 campaign.

Whereas Antonee Robinson's performances in recent times have been very impressive, Joe Bryan takes up the left-back role in our combined XI due to his longevity.

The defender has now played a total of 116 games for Fulham in all competitions since joining the club in 2018 from Bristol City.

The highlight of his spell at the club to date came during the 2020 play-off final as he scored two goals against Brentford in this particular fixture.

Tosin Adarabioyo is the first of two centre-backs who are included in this team.

Since joining Fulham on a permanent deal from Manchester City in 2020, the defender has made considerable strides in terms of his development.

During the previous campaign, Adarabioyo made 3.6 clearances per game and won three aerial duels per fixture as he recorded a WhoScored match rating of 7.02 in the Championship.

The 24-year-old will be determined to deliver the goods at the highest level for Fulham later this year.

Tim Ream has been selected as the other centre-back in our combined XI as he has been a loyal servant to Fulham in recent seasons.

The defender has now made 256 appearances for the club during his career and helped his side claim 17 clean-sheets in the Championship last season.

Having featured in all 46 of the club's league fixtures during the previous term, it would be somewhat of a shock if Ream doesn't go on to play on a regular basis in the Premier League for Fulham next season.

Whereas Kenny Tete and Neco Williams both produced some encouraging performances for Fulham last season, they have both been edged out of this squad by Denis Odoi.

During his time at Fulham, Odoi featured both as a right-back and as a centre-back.

Before sealing a move to Belgian outfit Club Brugge earlier this year, the defender notched up 177 appearances in all competitions.

During these fixtures, Odoi occasionally provided an attacking threat as he provided 15 direct goal contributions.

Tom Cairney unsurprisingly takes up one of the central-midfield slots in this combined XI as he has produced a host of impressive performances in recent seasons.

After missing a chunk of action due to a knee injury, Cairney made his return to action last year and went on to provide seven direct goal contributions in 26 league appearances.

Having scored three goals in the Premier League during his career, the Scotland international will be determined to add to this tally in the 2022/23 campaign as Fulham look to achieve a relative amount of success at this level.

Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa is also included in this squad as he managed to deliver some encouraging performances in the Premier League during the 2020/21 campaign.

In the 37 appearances that he made for the Cottagers at this level in this particular term, Anguissa managed to average a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.99.

The midfielder is currently on the verge of securing a permanent switch to Napoli after featuring for the Italian side on loan last season.

Jean Michael Seri will not be given the chance to impress in the Premier League next season despite the fact that he produced some assured performances in the heart of the club's midfield in the 2021/22 campaign.

The midfielder made 1.4 tackles per game, completed 89.4% of the passes that he attempted and was directly involved in seven goals as he recorded a WhoScored match rating of 6.93 in the Championship.

Set to become a free-agent next month, Seri is already attracting interest from Hull City who are believed to be keen on securing his services.

After being handed his debut during the 2020/21 season, Fabio Carvalho illustrated some real signs of promise for Fulham in the previous term.

As well as managing to find the back of the net on 11 occasions in all competitions, the 19-year-old also provided eight assists in 38 appearances.

Carvalho's performances attracted the attention of Liverpool earlier this year.

The Reds recently finalised a deal for the attacking midfielder who is set to join up with the club in July.

Signed from Liverpool last year, Harry Wilson went on to have a superb debut season at Craven Cottage as he set the division alight with his attacking displays.

As well as scoring 10 goals in the second-tier, the Wales international managed to provide a remarkable total of 20 assists for his team-mates.

Wilson will now be looking to help Fulham push forward as a club in the Premier League.

Having managed to find the back of the net on seven occasions in the top-flight during his career, the winger will be keen to add to this tally on a regular basis later this year.

Aleksandar Mitrovic completes this combined XI as his performances in the Championship last season were nothing short of spectacular.

Defenders in this division will be glad to see the back of the Serbian who caused havoc in the second-tier for the Cottagers.

In the 44 appearances that he made at this level, Mitrovic managed to find the back of the net on 43 occasions which is a feat that may not be matched for a very long time.

The forward's goal for the upcoming campaign will be to provide the firepower that Fulham will need to stay in the top-flight.
