GK - Robert Green

robert greens

The former England man left QPR this season and is close to retirement after a glittering career.

After getting his first major break at Norwich he made over 200 appearances for the Canaries winning the Championship in 2004.

After moving to West Ham in 2006 he burst on to the England scene making 12 appearances in all including a rather forgettable World Cup game against the USA. After winning the play-offs twice and making over 200 appearances for West Ham he joined QPR in the Premier League but they were promptly relegated.

He became first choice in the Championship and in the final against Derby he kept out a host of Derby chances who were dominating the game. But Green kept the scores level allowing QPR striker Zamora to grab a late winner, Green has won 3 play-off finals, been named as West Ham Player of the Year and had international call ups and is well worthy of this team.

LB - Alan Tate

Being a wing back at Wembley is hard work, the pitch is much bigger than the average Championship pitch is, so you must put in a long shift and that's what Tate did when Swansea defeated Reading in the 2011 play-off final 4-2.

Scott Sinclair ran the show for Swansea but left-back Alan Tate linked up impressively with him.

He made well over 200 appearances for Swansea in his 11 years of service, and that game was one of his finest in the shirt.

His endeavour down the wing was admirable, and he fulfilled his defensive responsibilities well using his versatility as a centre back well.

RB - Steven Whittaker

Steven Whittake90

The Norwich full back was instrumental in there Wembley triumph against Middlesbrough last year to complete the turnaround led by manager Alex Neil.

After a very successful spell at Rangers where he won a host of accolades and secured a place in the Scottish side he moved to Norwich in 2012.

He is experienced at club level and internationally which proved crucial in the final. He is closing in on 100 appearances at Carrow Road and is a fixture in the first team. He was excellent in the final keeping the ball well and linking up well with the lethal Nathan Redmond who Middlesbrough struggled to contain.

His passing was crisp and he kept Middlesbrough's attack at bay comfortably keeping a clean sheet. Whittaker was praised for his performance but neutrals and fans alike.

CB - Jay Demerit

Jay Demeritd

Demerit had a meteoric rise in English football going from the ninth tier of English football to Watford in the Championship in a matter of years.

He is a hard worker for sure and after obscurity at Southall and Northwood he nailed down a starting position at Watford.

His first year in 2004/05 was successful but in the year after under Aidy Boothroyd Watford defied the odds and reached the playoff final to play big boys Leeds United.

It proves a route with Demerit scoring the opening goal with a nicely timed header and Watford ended up winning 3-0 and Demerit was named Man of the Match.

He was a regular starter in there first Premier League season and even though they were relegated he was nominated for Player of the Season. He has played many times for his country and many more times for Watford before finishing his playing career in the MLS.

CB - James Tomkins

The 27-year-old centre back already has well over 200 appearances for West Ham including 44 in the Championship.

He is a product of the youth academy and has played for England at youth level as well as the Great Britain side.

He has played most of his career in the Premier League with the Hammers but in the 2011/12 season, when they were relegated he stepped up to the mark and his partnership with Winston Reid contributed greatly to the side's play-off victory.

The final was a 2-1 win over Blackpool thanks to a late Vaz Te goal.

Tomkins won Man of the Match for his commanding defensive display keeping Tom Ince out and pocketing the strikers, he also was named in the PFA Team of the Year and won West Ham's Player of the Year.

CM - Charlie Adam

Charlie AdamCharlie Adam

The Blackpool midfielder was excellent when they won the play-offs in 2010, as their fairytale rise to the Premier League ended in success.

Their 3-2 win over Cardiff on a sweltering day at Wembley is seen as the greatest play-off final in decades, as the topsy turvy game went one way and the other.

Cardiff went ahead early thanks to Michael Chopra but a thunderbolt free kick from Adam drew them level and further goals from Ormerod and Taylor - Fletcher saw them reach the Premier League for the first time ever.

His partnership with Southern was excellent on the day and flourished in the Premier League with Adam going on to enjoy moves to Liverpool and Stoke and earning international call ups.

His passing was magnificent but it was the thunderbolt free kick he will be remembered for in an excellent final.

CM - Matt Oakley

mitreting

Derby have not had the best of luck in recent play-off matches being knocked out by Hull in the play-offs this year, and a shock defeat to Derby in 2014.

But back in 2007 they won 1-0 at Wembley against West Brom thanks to a goal by Stephen Pearson.

Oakley was the captain at Derby at the time and was excellent in the final winning the Man of the Match award superbly breaking up play in the middle of the park.

The following Premier League season was record breaking for the Rams as they recorded the lowest ever Premier League points total with Oakley admitting the squad lacked depth.

But still his performance at Wembley was excellent helping them keep a clean sheet and setting up the winner.

LM - Scott Sinclair

Scott Sinclair 2

A no contest for this place as a match winning hat trick by Scott Sinclair helped Swansea to a 4-2 win over Reading in 2011, leading Swansea to there first ever Premier League season.

Sinclair scored twice in 2 minutes to put them 2-0 up before adding a late penalty to halt the Reading fightback.

The winger was just 22 at the time so for a youngster to step up like he did was very impressive earning him a Wales call up.

He was impressive for Swansea in there maiden Premier League season earning him a big money move to money club Manchester City, where he struggled to hold down a place eventually being sold to Aston Villa to try and get his career back on track.

But Swansea fans will always remember him fondly for his match winning contribution at Wembley engraving him into Swansea folklore forever.

RM - Nathan Redmond

redmond

The Norwich winger was one of the best prospects in England, with a lot of Premier League interest, but instead stayed at Norwich when they were relegated in the 13/14 season.

They struggled initially in the Championship leading to the manager being sacked and Hamilton boss Alex Neil being brought in.

He reinvigorated the squad as they narrowly missed out on automatic promotion but went on to thrash rivals Norwich in the play-offs, before outplaying Middlesbrough in the final at Wembley.

Middlesbrough's excellent defence had an off day as Redmond ran rings around him playing a part in Jerome's opening goal, and was a big part in the excellent interplay leading to the second which Redmond dispatched himself with an excellent finish.

He was named Man of the Match and despite Norwich going down this season he is linked with a Premier League move with his pace and flair highly sought after.

ST - Dean Windass

windasshull

Windass scored perhaps the greatest ever play-off final goal when Hull beat Bristol City 1-0 in 2008.

His first spell at Hull numbers nearly 200 appearances and he then became a bit of a journeyman with spells in Scotland, with Aberdeen and then Yorkshire playing for Middlesbrough, Bradford and Sheffield United before returning to Hull in 2007.

He wasn't expected to play a big part with his career coming to an end but in the 2006/07 season scored 8 crucial goals helping Hull to survive in the Championship.

The following season he played a huge part in getting them to the playoffs and then scored in the semifinals against Watford and the winner against Bristol City in the final which happened to be a beauty.

Windass found Premier League appearances at a premium but is a cult hero and legend at Hull and was voted there fourth best ever Player.

He is now an ambassador of football at Hull and could be manager in the future with the passion he still has for the game.

ST - Bobby Zamora

zamoraaa

Zamora is a man for the big occasion, as he has shown on two occasions in the play-offs now.

In 2005, he scored the winner for West Ham as they defeated Preston 1-0 to secure their long awaited return to the big time.

He was then a consistent supply of goals for West Ham in the Premier League before leaving for Fulham, where he scored 20 goals in 4 seasons.

He rejoined his old boss Harry Redknapp at QPR not proving effective in the Premier League or the Championship with Charlie Austin ahead of him in the pecking order.

But in the 2014 play-off final where Derby had them under the cosh, QPR were down to 10 men and a Derby goal seemed imminent.

But a great display from Robert green kept them level before the last minute, where Zamora latched onto a Richard Keogh mistake to score the late winner sending the fans into raptures.

He is clinical and the only man to score the winning goal in 2 playoff finals, essential for the big games.
