New Hull City manager Grant McCann has completed his first bit of transfer business, with the signing of goalkeeper Matt Ingram from Queens Park Rangers on a three-year-deal, with the option of a further 12 months, it has been confirmed on the club website.

The 25-year-old moves to East Yorkshire for an undisclosed fee, ending a three-season spell at Loftus Road, having played 19 games for Rangers during that time, after previously having made a total of 180 career appearances in spells at Wycombe Wanderers and Northampton Town.

But will Ingram be the number one at the KCOM next season?

We discuss........

Tommy Joyce

"With talk of David Marshall's extension going pretty quiet then Ingram has to be considered as the starter for next season.

"Marshall is well respected at Hull but nobody is sure about whether he will stay or not, and with only a couple of days left on his contract, it's looking less and less likely.

"Unless another keeper is signed then Ingram should go to first choice, and it will be a big step up for him to be playing regular Championship football week in week out.

"However, if Marshall does stay, then I would fancy him to keep hold of the number one jersey."

Kealan Hughes

“This is a bit of a surprising signing. He was deemed not good enough by QPR and subsequently barely got a game, and it is likely he will he used by Hull in a similar way.

“Hull have a very good number 1 at this level in David Marshall and although he is getting older he was still one of the best keepers in the division last year, and will almost certainly maintain his place in the first team.

“Ingram will probably get an opportunity to impress in the cups and if he does he could begin to persuade Grant McCann to trust in him.

“Ingram was very good during his spell at Wycombe and it is surprising he hasn’t kicked on from there, All players need game time to improve but goalkeepers particularly. Being on the bench for so long can stagnate a career and until he plays regularly it is difficult to see how he can impress.”

George Brooks

"I'm not convinced Ingram is a good signing for Hull City and it will be interesting to see if he is their first-choice goalkeeper next season.

"He conceded 13 goals in four Championship games for QPR at the start of last season, before he was dropped from the side.

"He hasn't got a great deal of experience in the Championship and really struggled to make an impact during his time at Loftus Road.

"With that said, Grant McCann wouldn't have signed him if he didn't think that he had potential to be a decent goalkeeper at this level, so perhaps he will play an important role for the Tigers next season.

"The future of David Marshall at the KCOM Stadium is still uncertain, but if the out-of-contract goalkeeper does remain at the club this summer, then I expect him to be the first-choice for next season.

"If he leaves, then I expect Ingram to battle it out with George Long for the number one spot and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top in that battle."
