But having been linked with one player in particular over the past few days, we think if the Whites could secure a deal for this man, they'd have a much better chance of making progress.
The man in question? Barcelona wonderkid Kun Temenuzhkov, who earlier last week published a picture on Instagram of him outside the Leeds academy.
But just who is the talented 17-year-old and what would he bring to Elland Road if the Whites were to pull off such a transfer coup?
Well, he's a pacy, skilful forward who has shone in the Barcelona youth teams since his arrival in Catalonia.
Put his name into YouTube or any internet search engine and you'll get dozens of videos of impressive skill-sets and strong finishes.
Of course, the competition to get into the first-team at Barcelona is extremely severe and a move away at 17-years-old is a big decision to make.
But Temenuzhkov is one of the most talented young players in the world and should Leeds United be able to secure a deal for his services, they really would be bringing one of the most talented young players to Yorkshire.
It would represent a massive transfer coup for Thomas Christiansen if he could bring in the skilful forward, and we think he could be one of the best pieces of transfer business we've seen at Elland Road in years.
