Aston Villa’s revival this season under Steve Bruce deserves huge credit, with the Villans entering the run-in well in the hunt to secure promotion from the Sky Bet Championship.
Bruce’s side sit third in the table heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures, but face their toughest test yet, with Wolverhampton Wanderers visiting Villa Park.
Wolves are the Championship’s leaders, and whilst many clubs have tried to sit back and soak up the pressure, Bruce can’t afford to do that – he has to go for the kill.
Here at FLW, one key selection we believe that Bruce should make is getting Jack Grealish, Albert Adomah and Robert Snodgrass all into the starting XI.
Villa’s best run of form this season came towards the end of 2017 and spilled into early 2018, with Bruce’s side putting together a sensational winning streak to put themselves in automatic promotion contention.
Grealish, Adomah and Snodgrass were key to that, featuring behind Scott Hogan.
The former two, Grealish and Adomah, recently missed three fixtures due to injury, where Villa’s form dipped, picking up just four points from a possible nine against Fulham, Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday.
However, the duo returned in the 3-0 victory over Sunderland on Tuesday, as Bruce’s side maintained a four-point gap to second.
Lewis Grabban is likely to be preferred to Hogan against Wolves this evening, but behind him, Bruce needs to get his three playmakers into his system, with the hope that they can pick holes in a solid Wolves outfit.
