Dean Smith will be working on a list of targets he wants to bring to Aston Villa following their promotion to the Premier League.
We all know the importance of recruitment to newly-promoted sides and it will be a big challenge for all those at Villa who are tasked with identifying players.
It will also require some ruthless decisions to be made and it appears Smith is set to make one by trying to bring in a new keeper.
That’s according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon who revealed that Lovre Kalinic could be sent on loan with Villa keen on bringing in a new number one. As a result, current first-choice Jed Steer would drop to the bench.
VILLA. Want a new number one keeper. Kalinic may be sent out on loan

Whilst some may feel that’s a fair call given Steer has only played one Premier League game in his career, it’s still a very brave call.
The 26-year-old was recalled by Villa in January after a successful loan spell at Charlton and was a big reason for their excellent second half of the campaign.
He was a calming influence between the sticks and managed to keep out the £7m Kalinic who is a Croatia international.
And, Steer delivered when Villa needed most, with his contribution in the penalty shootout win against West Brom in the play-off semi-final a huge moment.
That made him a very popular figure at Villa Park and quite simply, he did everything that could be asked of him.
Of course, no one has a divine right to play but if a big-money keeper does arrive in the summer then Steer will know realistically they will be given the gloves for the first game – it will be down to them to lose the position.
After his fine form in the past six months that will be tough for the former Norwich man to take and he may feel he deserves the chance to continue in goal, so this update will be very frustrating for Steer.
