The England squad was announced not so long ago as they prepare for Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro in the coming days.

There were few surprises with Gareth Southgate's squad, although a late call-up for Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi was a shock given his lack of game time in the Premier League this season.

Therefore, Aston Villa's Jack Grealish has once again missed out on a squad and he may feel slightly annoyed by that.

Anyone who has seen the attacking midfielder play over the past 18 months will see that he is head and shoulders above most in the Championship - and starring in the second-tier shouldn't be used against the 23-year-old.

It's a very competitive league and full of quality but more importantly a good player is a good player, no matter what division they play in.

And, Grealish would clearly add something different to this England side that are weak in midfield.

His ability to go past players with ease and the balance and touch he has make him a standout technical operator in that role.

Those are qualities that other English players don't have and the one that should have - Ross Barkley is out of form, yet still picked.

This isn't to suggest that Grealish should start for the national team but the idea of a 23-man squad is to have different options and the Aston Villa star has a touch of class that others don't have.

Leicester City's James Maddison is another who can feel aggrieved and like Grealish may be feeling it's who you play for rather than how you're playing.

It's inevitable that he will be called up once he gets his chance in the top-flight - which is a shame for Grealish as his talent isn't appreciated now as it should be.
