A run of four successive victories has lifted Aston Villa into the play-offs and it's been a real big collective effort from Dean Smith and the players.

Yet, no matter what happens between now and May, there is going to be a lot of change at Villa Park in the summer.

If the team win promotion then the side will need changing as they look to bring in extra quality, whereas another campaign in the Championship will require significant cuts.

And, it seems that planning is already underway, with journalist Alan Nixon revealing the names of three players likely to leave at the end of the season - including Albert Adomah.

The winger was outstanding for Villa last season but he has struggled to replicate that form this time around.

However, unlike some of his teammates who were suggested as possible players to leave, he does have a year left on his contract.

So, if Adomah wants to be a part of things moving forward it's clear that he needs a strong run-in and to rediscover the goalscoring ability that made him such an influential player 12 months ago.

Two goals in 28 games is just not good enough from the former Middlesbrough man, although the one comfort he can take is that they've come in recent weeks.

At 31-years-old Adomah may no longer have that explosiveness that was his main trait earlier in his career but he still has time to adapt and improve different aspects of his game.

That's something that he may need to do immediately if he wants to convince Smith that he can play a key role for Villa next season.
