It's been a long season down at St Andrews for the Blues supporters of Birmingham City, who saw Gianfranco Zola's campaign end in utter disaster just a couple of weeks ago.

With Harry Redknapp now at the helm, the former QPR man has just two games to preserve the club's Championship status, which might prove to be a very difficult task indeed, especially after yet another defeat last time out to Aston Villa.

But looking ahead to next season and whoever is in the St Andrews hotseat, changes will have to be made and players will have to be brought in.

And there's one man that seriously impressed during a loan spell at Birmingham a couple of years ago and that was Jon Toral, who played a massive role in Gary Rowett's team during the 2015-2016 campaign.

At the time, he was battling the likes of Diego Fabbrini for a place in the first-team and he often shone, playing well in behind the striker, creating chances and scoring some key goals at the time too.

He's been on-loan at Rangers for the past season but his spell in Scotland hasn't been as successful as his time at St Andrews and we'd love to see him to return to the Midlands this summer.

Armed with a little bit of financial spending power these days, Birmingham could do far worse than making a permanent move for Toral, who isn't looking like getting in the Arsenal first-team any time soon.

Rated at around £1.28million by Transfermarkt, he'd be able to give the Blues a real element of attacking prowess in an environment that he knows and has played well in in the past.
