Pontus Jansson remains a crowd favourite at Elland Road, despite the fact that the Swedish defender has struggled to have the same impressive impact during his second season with Leeds United in the Sky Bet Championship.

Last year, alongside Kyle Bartley, Jansson was a rock, endearing himself to Leeds’ supporters, who saw the defender as an instant cult-hero at LS11.

However, this year Jansson’s performances haven’t been nearly as good without Bartley alongside him, and with attention now beginning to turn to the summer, it is glaringly obvious that Leeds need another central defender during the summer.

Here at FLW, one player we believe Leeds should be lining up a move for is Danny Batth, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ £900k-rated captain.

Batth has impressed on occasion this season in Wolves’ back three, with the club captain part of the set up that looks like storming to promotion under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Nuno’s work with Batth has seen the defender come on in the last year, however, going forward into the Premier League, you could question whether Batth will still be wanted, with Wolves sure to be lining up more high-profile names.

The 27-year-old has been in and out of the team this season, with Conor Coady and Willy Boly joined by Ryan Bennett in a back three for large parts of the season.

For Leeds, Batth would be perfect, as the defender would slot nicely alongside Jansson in the heart of defence.

Batth would bring exceptional leadership to Leeds’ team, and the year he has spent under Nuno will surely have helped his game improve.

One priority for Leeds in the summer needs to be finding Jansson a partner he can trust and who can get the best out of the Swede, and the Whites could do a lot worse than taking a look at Batth.
