Kenny Jackett has the impossible task of helping guide Portsmouth a double promotion, which could be the aim if their player recruitment is right during the summer transfer window.

The experience the new boss offers will be vital if they are to fulfil their ambitions, although more importantly it is the group of players which wins you games and additions are pivotal to have any sort of success next season.

One position Pompey currently lack in is at the very back in goalkeeping, Alex Bass being the only senior player after Liam O’Brien was sold to League Two outfit Coventry City last month.

This makes me suggest Jackett should swoop in for £83,000-rated Tottenham Hotspur man Luke McGee, whom is a very realistic target for the south-coast side.

Spurs are looking to shift the ‘keeper on permanently this summer following a rather enjoyable loan spell at Peterborough United in the third-tier, but the Posh have ruled themselves out of a move.

The 21 year-old conceded 53 goals in 39 outings last campaign and that is fairly impressive for team who ended the term in mid-table, which makes me think McGee still has tonnes of potential in his locker and that will benefit Portsmouth in the long-term.

I don’t want to make assumptions but Pompey should have a decent transfer budget to play around with so purchasing Luke McGee is definitely in the question for Kenny Jackett during the coming months.

Portsmouth supporters, do you need a new goalkeeper or is Alex Bass up to the task? How much would you value Luke McGee? Let us get your thoughts in the comments below!
