Nottingham Forest have had an extremely poor season in the Championship but there's hope that with some new signings and a squad overhaul, Mark Warburton will be able to make some progress next year.

The former Brentford manager has a real job on his hands getting rid of some of the deadwood currently on the books at the City Ground, but there's one man we think he should bring in to really tighten up the midfield going forward.

The man in question? Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga.

He's currently serving a loan spell with Ipswich Town having been deemed surplus to requirements at Elland Road during the second half of the season, and it's likely that this will be the same story next season too.

With Bridcutt, Murphy, Viera, Phillips and O'Kane already available as first-team options, £850k-rated Diagouraga will struggle to break into the team again next season, even more so if the Whites find themselves in the Premier League.

But down at Forest, they need some properly experience Championship players who can help them build a real foundation at the club again.

If they were to make a move, then Diagouraga won't be a massive investment and as we've seen at Portman Road this campaign, he can do a superb job in the middle-of-the-park.

He's a massive unit that can cut out play with relative ease and knows how to make his presence felt in the team.

These are all things Nottingham Forest have missed at times this season and you can really see this sort of move working out, especially seeing as Warburton worked with Diagouraga during his time at Griffin Park.

Reds fans, could you see a move for Diagouraga materialising this summer? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
