It’s been a tough season for Aston Villa in the Championship with Steve Bruce learning that the path back into the Premier League isn’t going to be as easy as first anticipated.
Whilst Newcastle United have led the way at the Championship summit for most of the campaign, Villa have struggled to pull together any sort of form and their league placing has truly reflected that at times.
There’s a big summer ahead for Bruce at the summit of Villa and he needs to get the transfer business right if he’s to really kick on, and mount a push for the Premier League next time out.
And following Middlesbrough’s return to the second-tier, there’s one man we’d like to make a return to Villa Park over the coming weeks to really lead their charge next season.
The man in question? £7million-rated winger Adama Traore, who has been in superb form for Boro this season.
Despite their relegation from the Premier League, he’s been one of the bright sparks in Aitor Karanka’s side this campaign and has finally begun to show why Villa brought him from Barcelona.
His skill, pacy and trickery have been a real asset in Boro’s squad this season and the chances he’s created for the likes of Negredo and Gestede this season has been superb.
You never really felt like he had the service around him at Villa to really create chances, especially when the team was playing so poorly in the top flight.
But these are changing times at Villa and they will be looking for reinforcements to add to the likes of Grealish and Adomah in the coming weeks.
Bringing back old flames is always a risk but they could do far worse than offering Traore another deal.
He’s really proved himself this season and going forward, could be a huge player for Villa if he does make the move back to the Midlands this summer.
Villa fans- would you welcome back Traore? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
