Leeds United are hoping to end a 16-year exile from the Premier League this term, as Marcelo Bielsa looks to take Leeds back to the top-flight for the first time since 2004.

Under Bielsa Leeds have played some scintillating football since the Argentine's appointment back in 2018, and sitting in second-place are still one of the firm favourites for promotion this term.

Bielsa's style of play involves a high-intensity pressing game with quick passing and an urgency to get up the pitch, something that some Championship teams simply haven't been able to cope with.

There is no doubt there are a number of players who have improved under Marcelo Bielsa's stewardship with players such as Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich both notably improving.

WhoScored.com base their passing stats on average passes per game, pass success rate, key passes per game (where a pass leads to a goal or a shot), and the player's assist stats.

Here we take a look at the seven best passers at Leeds this season according to WhoScored.com...

After a disappointing first season at Elland Road, Mateusz Klich has become a mainstay in Marcelo Bielsa's starting XI, starting a whopping 83 consecutive league games since the start of last season.

Last term the Polish international racked up 10 league goals and nine assists for the Whites and is the first name on this passing list.

The 29-year-old has completed an average of 1.8 key passes a game according to WhoScored.com, with a pass success rate of 81.2%.

It is no surprise that the 24-year-old has made this list, but some fans may be forgiven for thinking their Yorkshire Pirlo should be higher on this list.

According to the stats on WhoScored.com, Phillips averages 1.9 key passes per game, with another average of 55.1 passes per game and a pass success rate of 81.7%

The 24-year-old has been key to Marcelo Bielsa's side in the defensive midfield role, breaking up play when needed and often quickly turning defence into attack.

The Macedonian international comes in at fifth on this list despite not being a regular starter for the Whites this term.

His pass succession rate is lower than Phillips' at only 76.9% but has played a lot fewer minutes than the 28-year-old.

Alioski manages on average 32.8 passes a game, which isn't bad going considering the 28-year-old has only started 13 of United's 36 games so far this term.

Coming in at number four is on-loan defender Ben White, who is enjoying a season-long loan at Elland Road from Brighton and Hove Albion.

Some Leeds fans would have been forgiven for not knowing too much about White, who was bought in to replace the outgoing Pontus Jansson over the summer but he has certainly exceeded some expectations at Elland Road.

According to WhoScored.com, White averages 57.6 passes a game and has an impressive pass success rate of 85.5%.

Into the top three now and it's defender Luke Ayling who comes in at third spot for passing at Elland Road.

The 28-year-old has been one of Marcelo Bielsa's stand-out performers this term scoring two goals and creating four assists in 25 league games for the Whites.

Ayling manages on average 59.3 passes a game with a pass success rate of 80.3% and pips Ben White to third place due to playing few minutes than his defensive teammate.

It will be no surprise to anyone who has followed Leeds in recent years that Pablo Hernandez is as high up as second on this list.

The Spanish playmaker seems to be back to his best for the Whites at the moment, and at 34 still has the ability to completely change a game.

Hernandez has only featured 26 times so far this term for Leeds, and those missed games have helped Hernandez into second place in this ranking.

The playmaker averages 55.9 passes a game and has a pass success rate of 77.6%, also averaging 2.2 key passes each game.

After a steady start to life at Elland Road last term, 23-year-old Harrison has begun to make his mark on United's first team.

The Manchester City loanee has five goals and six assists to his name so far this term and is proving he is a pivotal element of Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Harrison boasts an average of two key passes per game and a pass success rate of 73.8%, as well as his six assists which see him top of this ranking.
