Clubs are always on the hunt for the next talented youngster who they can develop, reap the rewards of their talents, then perhaps sell on for a hefty fee to a larger club.

There are though some more senior players who are more than able to cut it in the top echelons of English football, so here we look at the seven best over-30 Championship players.....

Pablo Hernandez has enjoyed a resurgence at Elland Road under Marcelo Bielsa and in the 2018/19 season was named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year, whilst also collecting awards for Player and Players Player of the Year at his club for that season.

Lewis Grabban arrived at the City Ground in the summer of 2018 from Bournemouth, but had a slow start to life initially under Aitor Karanka and then Martin O'Neill.

The big break came for Grabban when Sabri Lamouchi was appointed Forest manager for the 2019/20 season, following his arrival Grabban has excelled with six goals and one assist in 12 appearances in all competitions.

Michael Dawson is another senior player at Forest who returned to the City Ground for a second spell in the summer of 2018.

Dawson was another to be given his chance under Sabri Lamouchi and has gone onto make 12 appearances in all competitions so far this season.

Former Polish international Kamil Grosicki arrived at the KCOM Stadium in January 2017, the winger has since gone on to make 101 appearances for the Tigers and has been a regular for manager Grant McCann this season.

Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Darren Randolph has been at Middlesbrough since 2017, clocking up 93 appearances, with the widely travelled keeper keeping the number one jersey following Jonathan Woodgate's promotion to manager in the summer.

Keiren Westwood has been at Hillsborough since 2014 and in his five years at the club he has made 171 appearances after a 16 year career that has seen spells at Manchester City, Oldham Athletic, Carlisle United, Coventry City and Sunderland.

In July 2019, Westwood signed a new two-year contract with the Owls and remains first choice keeper under new manager Garry Monk.

Former Scotland international striker Steven Fletcher has been at Sheffield Wednesday since July 2016, when the free-agent signed a four-year deal and he has gone on to score 28 goals in 106 appearances, having previously spent spells at Hibernian, Burnley, Wolves, Sunderland and Marseille.
